1 Background

1. These terms and conditions (“Rules”) apply to entries submitted Cyber Safety Awards (the “Award”) on our website at www.safesurf.bh (the “Website”).  By entering the Award, you agree to be bound by these Rules.

1.2 The Award is organized by Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Bahrain & Safe Surf Initiative, Kingdom of Bahrain as (the “Organizer “).

1.3 The Organizer reserves the right to cancel or amend the Award or the Rules if an event outside of our reasonable control occurs.  We will display any changes on the Website.

1.4 The decision of the Organizer in relation to any dispute about the Rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the Award is final and we will not enter into correspondence.

2 How to enter

2.1 Employees of the Organizer, or any of their subsidiary and associated companies, agents or members of their families or households, are not eligible to enter the Award. This does not exclude employees of the sponsor and their subsidiary and associated companies who are eligible to enter the Award.

2.2 The Award is opened for Entries from Students & Educational facilities; Intermediate, Secondary schools & Universities located in Bahrain submitting their own work. All entries are free.

2.3 When uploading an Entry you must submit a folder that contains the MP4 video, raw footage Video, video script & translated subtitle, Video Credits together with a maximum of 200 words about your work and credits (together, an “Entry “)

You agree that your Entry:

     (a) Will not feature or use any images or words that are considered immoral or are in any way untrue, misleading, offensive, blasphemous, obscene, libelous, defamatory, indecent, harassing or threatening;

     (b) Will not contain any computer virus or other material that may be harmful to the Organizer’s computer systems.

2.4 The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify you if we have reasonable grounds to believe that you have breached any of the Rules.

2.5 If you are disqualified from the Award, we may select a replacement.

2.6 The Award starts on 00 Sep 2020. You can enter after registering for the Award by uploading your work online through the submission form by the closing date of 00 Feb 2019. Winners will be announced in the ceremony on February 2021. The Organizer reserves the right to change these dates if necessary.

2.7 The Organizer is not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of or unauthorized access to Entries, or Entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside our reasonable control.

2.8 Please keep a copy of your Entry as we will not be able to return them.

3 How winners are chosen

The Evaluation Process is divided into three main stages: Phase One: Registration evaluation Phase Two: Submission Phase Three: Jury evaluation

Phase One: Registration evaluation:

All applications submitted to be verified by the Registration Committee.

The Registration Committee checks and verifies every submission all information and the attachments submitted are true and accurate within the Entry, and in compliance with the Cyber Safety Award Terms & Conditions or any other submission requirements for the entry.

If there is missing or inaccurate information or the Entry is not complying with the Cyber Safety Award Terms & Conditions, the Registration Committee will notify the Participant.

The Participant will then have the chance to edit and correct the information or the submitted Entry and re-submit their work to compete in the Award. After re-submission, the new Submission will be treated as a new Entry.

Phase Two: Submission:

Only verified participants will proceed to submit their entry, in which the Mid Jury Committee checks and validates every blind Submission; including quality of the work, skills, required attachments, and compliance to the terms & conditions for rules of the Entry.

If the Entry fails in any of the criteria mentioned in the previous point, or the Entry is not in compliance with the category-specific rules it has been submitted into, the entry will be disqualified. In some cases where the submission requires certain changes to the files given, the applicant will be contacted and given a chance of three days to re-submit the entry.

If the Entry complies with all rules as stated in the Award terms & conditions, the Entry is considered qualified and shall proceed to the next phase.

Phase Three: Jury evaluation:

All finalists will be evaluated & graded blindly based on two main criteria; the

conceptual & technical competencies.

  • The Creative concept & originality.
  • Storytelling, communication & aesthetic.
  • Execution of project related to Cinematography, Editing & sound design.

All members of the final Jury Panel will evaluate and grade the entry separately on an online platform and an average score is calculated for each Entry.

Each entry will have a unique reference and will not contain or hint to any information about the Participant; to avoid biased scoring.

4. The names and Entries of those who make it through to the shortlist and the eventual award winners will be published on the Website and may also be requested to take part in promotional activity. By entering you agree that the Organizer, their sponsor and members of the media has non-exclusive permission to use your Entry and/or your name, image and audio and/or visual recordings of you in any non-commercial publicity with due credit. End usage may include articles in newspapers / magazines / websites / social media posts / blogs / the showcase section of our website; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the awards projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; case studies, books and presentations related to these awards. 

Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with Bahrain data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without your prior consent. Please see the Organizer’s Privacy Policy for further details.

4 Prizes

4.1 Category prizes

  • A gold (BHD5,000), silver BHD3,000) and bronze BHD2,000) for each of the following categories – individuals (Schools & Universities), Educational facilities (Schools & Universities).
  • One special award (BHD2,000) for voters’ choice.

4.2 All winners referred to in Rule 4.1 will receive in addition to the cash prize

     (a) a trophy;
 

4.3 A ceremony in Bahrain will take place to celebrate the winners. All short listees will be offered a pair of free tickets to the award ceremony. The event date will be published on the Award website and the winners will be announced after the ceremony via the website & social media.


4.4 The Organizer reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.


4.5 Winners will be notified by email within 60 days following the award ceremony. Winners must claim their prize and provide their banking details for payment within three weeks of the notification being sent or an alternative winner will be chosen. If no banking details have been received by the end of May 2021, winners may forfeit their right to a cash payment.


4.5 The prizes are not transferable.


4.6 Cash prizes will be sent to all winners by bank transfer after the official announcement of the winners on the ceremony. Award trophies will be handed out at the ceremonies.

5. Use of Entries

5.1 By entering the award, you confirm that you have produced the Entry yourself and you have not copied it.  You further confirm that your Entry does not infringe any third-party rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights).

5.2 You agree that the Organizer and third parties authorized on our behalf, including sponsor and media, may make your Entry available for non-commercial marketing or internal communications purposes related solely to the Awards. Example usage  includes newspapers / magazines / websites / social media posts / blogs / the showcase section of our website; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the award; projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; on any media related to these awards. At all times the organizer retains full ownership. 

5.3 Winners agree to sign a release form in connection with their Entry, if requested by the Organizer.

5.4 The Organizer may also, in appropriate circumstances, and at its sole discretion, reject, edit, remove or disable access to Entries that appear to be legally or otherwise problematic e.g. infringe the copyright or other intellectual property or privacy rights of others, are defamatory etc. or for any other reason. Notwithstanding the above, the Organizer will endeavor to display all Entries in the showcase section of its site. The Organizer does not guarantee to display all Nominations as we must assess each Nomination for suitability.

6 Personal data

6.1 The Organizer will not collect any personally-identifiable information about you (your name, address, telephone number or email address (“personal data”) through the website unless you have provided it to us through the registration form from the website.

6.3 As stated above, no personal data will be shared with a third party without your prior consent.

7 Liability

7.1 The Organizer is not responsible for:

     (a) any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by your entry into the Award or as a result of accepting one of the prizes;

     (b) any loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable; or

     (c) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer systems relating to their participation in the Award.

7.2 The Organizer will be responsible for any death or personal injury as a result of its negligence or if it has deliberately lied to you causing you to enter into the Award.

8 General

8.1 The Award and these Rules are governed by Bahrain law and any disputes in relation to them are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kingdom of Bahrain.
